The greatest. Hands down the best. Heavy drinking. Heavy metal. Heavy women. If you don't agree, you're a nickel back fan.
    DONE.

Okay. That's a bit of a weird thread to start, but I'm not gonna complain. Pantera is still my favorite band of all time, and Dime is one of my favorite guitarists:agreed:

Oh, and also, because there are never enough chances to say it, FUCK nickelback.

I met the guy backstage at the Anchorage armory (Alaska) of all places...me and my buddy Cliff plowed through security with a handful of people and just the two of us made it down a dimly lit, narrow hall and into a doorway on our left that opened up into where everyone was partying backstage. Vince and Dime were pouring drinks at a little table by themselves- me and Cliff walked up and I asked if they’d sign a copy of ‘Power Metal” I had on me. We had no pass on our necks so Vinnie looks is up and down and asked “Are you guys ‘sposed to be in here?” we told the story of how we got back there, and Dime looked back and grabbed a plastic cup with some Jack Daniels in it (there was a bunch of ready-to-go cups) and said “Well shit!...take a fuckin’ shot” and “where’s a pen?”...someone handed him a sharpie and he said “hold on, man”, the whole time tons of people were trying to talk to them in between us and Dime and Vinnie walked off and left us standing in a crowd of yelling people...he came back and handed me my CD - he had the whole band sign my CD!! (Wherever he went?). He got a big grin, and said “Now you gotta leave ‘for Val throws you out!!”...then I was ushered out the door by a different security dude who was there........it was weird, I didn’t feel “star struck” or anything- just pumped to be there. Not a lot of conversation, but it was life changing for me at the time. Guy was a huge influence on me when I was younger. I miss him

To each their own. Dime was a good player for sure but I find Pantera unlistenable anything past CFH, and even then only a couple tunes off that album. Guess I’m a Nickelback fan :scott:

There was a million things I wanted to ask him and talk about, but it was loud and everyone was in partying mode and next thing I knew it was all over...but I still got the signed CD -I’ll dig it out and post a pic when I got time

Dimebag and Vinnie were friends with Nickelback, and Dime played the solo on their cover of Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting.

Not defending Nickelback, but your thread makes no sense.

Scrolled down literally to just find this comment. Pantera and Nickelback were really, really close.

Nickelback regularly covered parts of Cowboys From Hell in their live-set and the song Side of a Bullet is written as a direct reaction to Dime's death. They even used one of Dime's unpublished solos for the song.

You do remember that record called “Vulgar Display of Power“, right? But I can agreev that past that, anything's unlistenable. Including Nickelback...

I highly disagree...Trendkill was an epic album, floods...? Doesn’t mean you have to be the worlds biggest fan to appreciate stuff off any of their albums. Even Reinventing had ‘Revolution is my name’. Now it’s not cool to like only certain albums for fear of people on the internet flaming you with their goof-ball concensus opinions or something...? cherry picking which albums are cool/sucked(?) seems to be a new fad...ok, but where/when exactly did Pantera start sucking “by the album”? I’m curious to hear more bandwagon, hyper-critical statements. I was curious myself as to the outcome of this thread...lolz

And still ripping on Nickelback 15 years later is no longer comedic...it’s time to get some new material guys

Not a fan, though I don't deny his influence on metal or his skill. I live like 20 minutes from were he's buried, maybe I should visit sometime.
