Beast of an amp! I had a version 1 and loved it. Make sure you bring a small dolly to cart it around!

I found the Heberts sound mean, but couldn't stand how loose they sound. If they tighened things up, then that's a huge plus.

Looks like you picked a good time to ditch your Herbert @protest

Whaddaya mean loose? I need a definition of this term concerning a Herbert...to me, an Orange is loose, a Matamp is loose, a Recto not boosted is loose....are you lumping a Herbert in like that?

A Herbert is one of the tightest amps I've ever played, like right behind a Pittbull...

I briefly played one through a Marshall 1960 V30 cab. Just didn't get my rocks off like the JVM I tried next to it. Must have had some ancient tubes or something.

On top of that I'm not a huge fan of the Herbie model in the AX8. And then again I was just complaining in another thread how much I dislike the Recto models in the Axe FX for being muddier than the real thing.

I have a JVM and it's nowhere near as tight as the Herberts I've played. Doesn't sound as good in anyway as any of the Diezels I've played/owned either. Hence why I've got the Mk III ordered.

Also, the Axe FX Diezel models aren't very good.

Figures. I don’t even take delivery on my Ultra Lead until tomorrow and I’m already lusting for another amp. Maybe people will sell their II’s for a good price...

That seems interesting. I know James Hetfield playes/played one and he's always had a good sound.

HeHasTheJazzHands, i think i know what you mean. That´s why i just sold my DMoll which is a smaller herbert.
Though it is not really flubbiness. It is rather a lack of articulation and bite. The tone is just to round/warm, which didn´t work for me. And before the Question for the cab comes up again, i use an engl cab with jensen electric lightnings.

    Looks cool for sure!

Absolutely love my Herbert. It's become my go-to amp in any tuning. Don't care for the black face, always liked the contrast of the light brushed metal against the black.

I don't really get the comments about the Diezel being loose. It can get boomy with the bass dialed up, but even then, it's still far tighter tan my 3 channel triple rectifier. Not quite as tight as my Splawn quick rod or either of my VHT's, but those are some of the tightest amps on this god damned earth.
