These are from Joe Balaguer, of Balaguer Guitars of course. Seeing as how the more traditional stuff are really solid guitars, especially for the money, I am thinking these will be a really great entry into the headless arena. What's cool is that there will be some options available too, not just stock instruments.

Hmmm, very rounded version of Kiesel's Holdsworth guitar. Not bad looking, but I'm not a big fan of ABM's headless tuners and the PUs are some simple Asiabuckers you'd need to replace quickly. However, always happy to see more choices in the headless segment.

body shape's not really my thing but I'm intrigued to see where these stack up price wise to other headless guitars.

I like the 7 and I'm not the biggest fan of out there guitars like these (even though I own a Strandberg)
I like the Balaguer stuff though so may follow these depending on price.

They're not ABM, they're my own design machined out of brass. All the details are in the thread the OP posted. The pickups aren't simple off the shelf Asiabuckers, they're pickups I've put through multiple phases of R&D and prototyped before putting them into production. Sourced the magnets from a supplier due to the thickness and size I wanted, the bobbins are VFB not cheap plastic, and are waxpotted and built to my specifications. Just wanted to clear that up!

Even if the pickups aren't to your liking, it's not rocket surgery to replace them. And you still wouldn't have to deal with Kiesel. :D

So basically they combined the unique elements of a Klein and a Strandberg...

I like the shape quite a bit but pretty iffy to make them at WMI and use the exact same spec as the Boden metal stuff (roasted maple neck / metallic black/white). I guess the idea is to undercut them with a cheap bridge and pickups.

They're not built at WMI. We use a smaller shop comprised of ex-workers of WMI and Mirr Music. I've been using Roasted Maple @ Balaguer Guitars for over a year and a half now, but that's neither here nor there. I source Canadian Maple and have it roasted at a facility so I'm able to control the process and moisture content.

Obviously you're entitled to your quick judgements though about what "the idea" is here. I have designs I wanted to bring to life and offer a well built headless guitar at an affordable price point.

Ah, apologies. South Korea outsourcing is usually synonymous with WMI, so I just assumed.

No need to apologize man. I'm no SSO n00b, so I know with anything new there will be quick judgements and comparative product analysis shot off from the peanut gallery. I'll just chime in when I feel necessary to clear the air.

Strandberg seems to have largely cheapened out, since many of the models are now Chinese or Indonesian. Still charging the big bucks though.

I find it hilarious that some of you guys just trying to shit on anything that anyone does.

Seriously, Joe is doing some awesome stuff with Balaguer and things are looking great for Dark Matter. But I guess it’s easier to shit on something then to give it a chance.
