I am getting too old when I see things like "Classic" and "Chimaira" in the same sentence. I am still hoping for a classic reunion of Night Ranger!
few points on this
1. Amazing to see the original lineup ESPECIALLY Andols back, seeing as he has been suffering from a bad medical condition for a while and just leaving the house has been tough for him. Great to see he is presumably recovered.
2. I hope this is pro shot like the last Xmas show live DVD they made. Its still my favourite ever gig dvd. Maybe this time we will get it on Blu Ray?
3. Does anyone know if this is a test the water type reunion?. If there is enough hype and success maybe we will see a new record and hopefully a tour?
4. I know its always been said that Mark is maybe hard to work with and thats a possible reason that at one time, he was the only original member left?. Hopefully if thats the case it appears they may have settled their differences?. Brilliant news.
sidenote: Rob Arnold and Andols in particular are wayyyy too good of a musician, to just fade away into obscurity. Hopefully this really kicks Chimaira back on again. They deserve it.
I implore anyone to watch the DVD documentary on this band. Amazing viewing and how they and their familes were all so involved in supporting the band is lovely to see.
On top of that, Matt and Hunter are the duo of amazing riffs. Include Matt and it's a trifecta of groove.
absolutely!! oh also i presume matt is no longer fear factory bassist?
thats what he was doing last time i checked on him some time ago now.
He left in 2015 and was replaced by Tony Campos, another really cool guy. After he left he did pretty much nothing. Pretty sure this is his first gig in 2 years.
As one of my favorite bands growing up, i approve of this reunion!
I bet he cant wait to get started again. Im so pumped they are back and I still pray this ends up long term and way more than just 1 show. I know they aint getting any younger but its not like they are as old as Maiden or Metallica. Would love a few more albums and tours etc.
Also, in this day and age, production on a potential album they write in 2017-18 is going to massive. Also I want so much merch!. Hope we get all new hoodies, bracelets, caps etc
Man, IOR is one of my favorite albums. This is awesome news!
Would be cool if it got them to tour again. The DVD they did around the recording and touring of IOR is really good and a nice insight into life in a metal band. Resurrection was great album
The Resurrection is awesome as well. It's fucking hilarious.
The parts with Jason are a fucking blast.
Wow, doesn't even seem like they've been gone that long. Not that I'm complaining. First Eighteen Visions come back, and now this, hopefully Shadows Fall and God Forbid are next sometime in the future.
If anybody has a couple hours to kill in the gym or on a long drive, this episode of Doc Coyle's podcast from a couple months ago with Mark Hunter is pretty interesting. Mark is pretty open and honest about his and the band's past missteps.
The making of DVD is great
Stoked as hell.
Would love to see them working with Sneap again, although I can imagine there is not a chance they would have the budget for that. Resurrection is one of my favorite albums ever. Let it roll.
This news really came as a shock and boy am I excited! F'n love Chimaira. I don't discredit Crown of Phantoms though..... I thought that album was pretty decent and much better than Age of Hell (my least liked album from their catalogue). Hopefully the boys can keep it together and potentially tour in the new year.
Bumping this. The dates' getting closer, but unfortunately it looks like Andols' health isn't improving. So he has to sit this show out. They're getting Austin D'Amond (drummer from the Crown of Phantoms-era) to take his spot.
Dang . Austin d'Armond is a beast but Andols has a very particular way of attacking the drums.
What exactly is wrong with andols? Did they ever say?
Chimaira is awesome and I hope they make some more tunes. I enjoyed a good majority of their discog
I remember randomly seeing Chimaira live 3 times in 2 months, they sounded so awesome each time.
