Does anybody know if Carvin puts the original Floyds on their guitars? I'm getting the DC7x with the FR. They said they put on the "original" but I don't know if they're getting it confused with the 1000 series. I wanted to see if anybody took a closer look.

The 6-strings use the OFR. The 7-strings use the 1000.

    For what it's worth, I have a Carvin 7 from 2014. a DC 727 and it's an original.

EDIT: Hmm... how do you tell? The website shows the same image for the Floyd 1000 and the original in 7. Mine says 1000 in no place and I was taking the manufacturer on their word... at face value it seems and ACTS like an original.

^You sure? After 2013, they switched to 1000-series ones. Not sure if that's just 7-string or both 6 and 7, though.

Where does the bottom of the baseplate say it's made?

If it's a legit "Original" then it will be made in Germany by Schaller.

The 1000 series are still very good. I have it on my Schecter Banshee, great tuning stability. Better than the Ibanez edges imo.

Isn't the Schaller one a different model? At least it is on the Floyd Rose website. In any case it should a OFR.

    No.

All legitimate Original models are made by Schaller in Germany. That includes the Original and Hot Rod models for 7 string.

Original Series Tremolos | Floyd Rose Original Series

Pretty much the same for the 6 string models:
Original Series Tremolos | Floyd Rose Original Series

    Original/Pro 6 = Germany
    Titanium = USA
    1000/FRX/Special/Pro 7/8-string = Korea

They make what's called a "1000 Series Original" but that name is a misnomer which is likely intentional so guitar makers can tout using an "Original Floyd Rose" even though it's really a cheaper 1000 series unit.

For the sake of completeness, the Carvin piezo Floyds are the full Graphtech Ghost bridges (certainly on the 6 stringers like my ST300).

Ugh. The new JP16 uses the FR 1000. Shame.

I wonder, though. I'm gonna check my 7X and see which one I've got...

Yeah, I don't get why all these companies are putting cheaper hardware on $2k+ guitars.

That said, I believe it's being done due to spacing issues between the bridges. But seeing as how EBMM and PRS make thier own hardware and Carvin/Kiesel designs thier own guitars I don't know why they just couldn't work something out.

Welp, must be a 1000. There's no writing on it anywhere except the top bass side that says "Floyd Rose."

    Oh well.
