The VIKs/Mayones are great for down-tuned stuff. I wanted to add some versatility and build a classic guitar with contemporary appointments. A traditional structure (22 Frets) with modern ergo (contours/flatter radius/jumbo frets). I approached Ron with my idea, and we came up with something special. Special mainly because the neck/fretboard will be made of a 1-piece old growth BRW blank that Ron has been hoarding for many years. It's his last piece. This will be the first S/S with BRW neck and fretboard. Other details that make this guitar special: BRW accents everywhere including the neck plate; reversed headstock; custom knob placement (traditional orientation but rear routed without a plate making it possible to edit hole spacing); 20 inch radius; similar PRS private stock pomegranate finish. The finish. It will be accentuated by the darker-toned black limba body, BRW, and gold hardware. The neck plate will have a BRW cap (constructed like this). The control layout with the volume hole closer to the tone hole for congruence. I'm big on congruence when it comes to builds (i.e., same woods everywhere/same materials used/spacing/etc.). Yeah, it's true... This one didn't have pictures of the actual guitar, though. Do some bucket-fu and you can find his album (here). The pinkish PRS is the finish sample, the meat-coloured Tele is the control layout and the heel of the green Thorn is the neck plate example.
