Thoughts? It's quite a nice return to shorter, tighter focussed songs with a balanced mix of prog and metal.

I just like the fact it's only 35 mins (I know it's part I of a double album, but still). It ends quite abruptly, but I am assuming part II picks up immediately.

I have only listened to it once so far, but I definitely like it...a lot!

Blot is fucking nasty. I don't think I'll ever be able to stop fanboying this band.

I couldn't get into Coma Ecliptic but this feels like a grower to me. Enjoying it so far, although it's not topping Colors/Great Misdirect yet for me.

Going to give this a listen tonight, hopefully it's as good as Parallax II was.

Have you listened to Parallax II? By far my favourite album. Give the tracks "Melting City" and "Lay Your Ghosts to Rest" a listen if you haven't.

Definitely have, it's a solid album but like Coma it didn't quite grab me.

After a couple listens, It's really growing on me. This album feels so tight, and with the more manageable track times they've been going for, I'm having a much easier time getting into each song.

Holy crap, Millions sounds unlike anything else from them. So glad to see these guys are still cranking out unique and gripping material. Looks like I desperately need to pick up this album.

I really like it! It's like if they took some of their newer sounds and made it in 2004. It has an Alaska feel to it. Very gritty and definitely not something I'd expect from them in 2018. I definitely like it, but I need to listen to it some more.

I can safely say Parallax II is my favorite but at the same time I seriously love everything these guys put out. Coma and Automata aren't worse by any means, they're just different.

    Agreed. Silent Flight Parliament. Damn.

I loved Coma. Loved it. Just a ridiculously cool step outside of their norm, and I think they succeeded brilliantly. It is nice to hear the return to form in Automata with some really cool newer sounds, too. Millions...what???

I've only got one playthrough so far, and I'm sure that I'll be just as enamored with this record as with the last few...

Looks more like a breaker panel/electronics? Either way, yes, this cover has a similar vibe to Great Misdirect.

    Anyway, I need this album.

My initial thought, too, but looking closer it looks like switches or connections or something.

    Art!

Man, are we listening to the same album? The last few records have been so, so good, including Coma. This just sounds like they went in saying "lets sound like ourselves from ten years back", then they did, and they did it worse than they did ten years ago. I've listened to it three times, and man, it just isn't clicking :(

Yeah, their older stuff is unlistenable for me. Even Paralax 1 is fairly messy and unpolished. Paralax II and Coma are some of my favorite albums of all time. These new songs just arent popping like I'd like them too.

Yeah the early stuff in general is very messy, though there are a few good pieces there. Colors and Parallax II really blew me away though, they seemed to come out of nowhere.

I am a fan of their older stuff. I gave Coma a few tries and just couldn't connect to it. I do like what I am hearing from Automata so far though.
