Desultory just released a very good new album that I feel is worthy of mention in this thread. Swedish Melodeath that plays fast and actually feels unpredictable, just like the good old days of Dismember or Slaughter Of The Soul era At The Gates.

I was shocked to see this here  Love some Big KRIT. It's like he mixed Outkast with all the good parts of Houston rap and threw out all the shitty stuff.

Dropped out of Harvard to save the rap game. Much respect.

I'm not a huge tech-death guy, but Archspire - Relentless Mutation...Absolutely love this record. For me it's probably my favorite album of the past few years, let alone 2017.

Here are a few more albums that have not been mentioned, that are more than worthy of this conversation:

Reading this got me super hype and I had to give The Forest Seasons a listen.

    11/10 recommendation.

The only new albums I bought/listened to this year:
    1. Mastodon - Emperor of Sand / Cold Dark Place
    2. Queens of the Stone Age - Villains

Emperor of Sand was pretty great and still had some great hooks though I rarely dislike a Mastodon album. Cold Dark Place is alright but I need to listen to it more.
Villains grew on me more and more but to me they blow their load right out of the gate with Feet Don't Fail Me. The rest of the album is on the meh side and as a whole it's not even in the same ballpark as ...Like Clockwork was, but it's hard to follow a perfect album (in my opinion, duh).

Seemed like 2017 was a year for me to catch up on stuff I hadn't hear/missed from other bands.

Albums I need to listen to, judging from other peoples' posts in this thread:
    1. Chelsea Wolfe
    2. The Black Dahlia Murder
    3. Rosetta
    4. Pallbearer
    5. Calligula's Horse

Picked up a Mushok baritone up earlier this year and I dunno if it shifted my ear or something but have been digging a bunch of albums with low tunings and big hooks this year. Amoungst other random shit.

    In no real order...

    Northlane - Mesmer
Nothing More - The Stories We Tell Ourselves
    Black Map - In Droves
    Eighteen Visions - XVIII
    Starset - Vessels
    Depeche Mode - Spirit
    Brand New - Science Fiction
    Quicksand - Interiors
August Burns Red - Phantom Anthems
    Glassjaw - Material Control
    36 Crazyfists - Lanterns
Darkest Hour - Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora
Foo Fighters - Concrete and Gold
John Mayer - The Search For Everything
Kenny Wayne Shepherd - Lay It on Down
Queens of the Stone Age - Villains
Chris Stapleton - From A Room: Vol. 2

The genius behind this atmospheric black metal album is dawning on me... I would qualify their sound as spiritual.

Just discovered this band about a week ago and it's been on constant play, would add to 2017 list

Only albums I can recall listening to multiple times from this year:
    Caligula’s Horse - In Contact
    Persona 5 - OST
    Lights - Skin&Earth
Linkin Park - One More Light (I liked it before Chester left us, but it really grew on me after)

This was more of a year of going backwards for me.
