Made of Metal is pretty good, but metal machine seems to be my go to as I really like the kits.

I like Made Of Metal as a much more organic tone, but Metal Machine is great as a plug and play tone set. I use Metal Machine to supplement other sets. However, Drums Of Destruction looks incredible.

Metal Machine is a great kit but maybe a bit outdated? Made of Metal sounds really good too but I got a lot people tell me that the kick sounded sh*t when I used it, but that's my own fault I guess. EZX Progressive has great cymbals!

just got it yesterday, so far I had been messing around with progressive, the midi is quite good so far ,but i'm just messing around so far using progressive kits over the top of logic drummer midi, still sounding good though its a step up from logics kits!

Rock Solid is overlooked but a really versatile kit.

I'm just getting the software and will surely get far with the basic Kits that are included. But there is some free kits offered so I'm looking for some 2 expansions that would cover most of the following genres:

    NWOBHM
    AOR
80s heavy metal and hard rock a'la Priest/Accept/Dokken and what not.
Prog rock in vein of Marillion.

    Any suggestions?

Metal Machine, Hard Rock, or Progressive. I’m using the latter and I can pretty much use it for anything.
Watch some of the EZX videos to get an idea of the sounds you want.
