Looking forward to this one, sounding good so far!
The drummer's facial expressions
Guitar tone sounds great
Had to wonder whether this was Blinded By Fear 2.0 for a moment there.
Hell yes. And damn you for beating me to posting this.
I'm so excited for this album. Loving the sound so far! The tone is a little more gnarly than AWWR, which was my only criticism of that album, which was otherwise amazing. This is the true sound of metal, boys.
It's totally Blinded By Fear, but a bit muddy. Hope that is just youtube's compression.
I was a bit worried after Anders left but this sounds great. The last album is easily one of my favourite Melodic Death metal albums.
Sounds pretty fucking good to me, looking forward to the full album!
Loved the last album personally. Looking forward to this one too, this track definitely amplified that.
The Crown has a new one too. hmmm.....How cool would an At the Gates/The Crown tour be... with Tompa guesting on a few of his Crown tracks! ....At the very least Drugged Unholy. Fuck I'd love to see that.
That was fucking sweet. Hell yeah. Love At the Gates and love they have a span of albums where one or another can typically match my current mood. This one was spot on, very eager for the album.
Given that Blinded By Fear is one of the only songs I can play beginning to end, this gives me high hopes that I’ll be up to two songs I can play. Awwwww yiss.
Looks promising. One of the last few bands where I buy every release.
Hahahaha, maybe the crown guys would take advantage of the ocassion to dump Tompa from the stage.
is anyone totally not feeling this song? sounds like a half-assed b-side from the last one
I'm digging it.
I think it's a solid song, but does sound like it could have come from AWWR. But also has a strong SOTS vibe. I like it, and bought it, which is something I don't normally do -- I prefer to wait for the whole album.
I'll wait and reserve judgment for the whole album. I doubt this is the strongest track. But also, I prefer listening to most music in the context of the whole album in one or possibly two sessions.
I remain excited for the full release.
Whoa, a re-recorded version of Raped By The Light Of Christ has just been released!
This album was 99% written when he left, but Jonas still wrote/writes a LOT of the material.
I must have been the only one who was disappointed by AWWR. I was so hyped by the title track on that one, and so underwhelmed by the rest of it.
Totally agree with you on this one. I guess there's always demand for this type of metal, but personally I've been drifting away from the genre for quite a while now – or at least this barebones-version of the style. Good to see the old timers I grew looking up with still tearing it, though. "Slaughter of the Soul" still is a great metal album from start to finish, but I guess it was the time and the place.
By the sound of it, To Drink From the Night Itself takes more influence from The Red In The Sky Is Ours -- so I'm hopeful it will be a departure from the more simple structures of AWWR and SOTS. SOTS is still my favorite, even though TRITSIO is technically superior.
The balance of rawness and somewhat higher production of Slaughter and the driving energy, in addition to the time in my life I was introduced to it all lend themselves to it being my favorite. I thoroughly enjoy AWWR and think it has its own vibe going -- but I was mildly disappointed it had such a polished production. I like the rawness of the older albums. They supposedly also used HM-2s again on this new album, and I'm excited about that; though I didn't hear one on the title track.
