    Hello from Spain.
I share with you my last full cover project, a cover for the song COLD of the swedish legend AT THE GATES.
Everything created by me. No backing track sounding.
100% made by me in Reaper in E tuning

    - All Guitar Recording (Jackson SLSMG).
    - Bass and Drums midi programming.
    - Mixing and Mastering.

I hope you like it. THANK YOU.

Nice! It must have been a challenge to play it in such a higher tuning compared to the original-- but it sounds like you transposed every note correctly. I can also say no brutality was lost by playing it in E. Kinda tiresome listening to a lot of metal these days in which the artist thinks they have to tune to drop-G to be heavy/brutal. It's the songwriting that dictates that. Anyway-- nice work!

I'm currently working on a cover of Slaughter of the Soul, coincidentally.:)

Played in Standard tuning kind of gives it an old school thrash feel.

The middle clean part sounds amazing.

My first thought was, it sounds very Metallica-esque. And only because of the tuning. I'm so used to listening to it in B standard.
Overall, great cover. Kind of refreshing to hear it in a higher tuning.

    Sounding good.

If I was going to be nitpicky there's something I don't quite like about the time feel in the triplet bit (at 12 seconds and recurring) I don't think I can describe it in text though. Maybe they drag the first note of each 3 a little bit in the original?

Don't give up on that solo either, not that I can play it or anything.

    Thanks for your kind words.
I totally agree with you about tuning. If the riffs are good, they sound brutal in everty tuning you play.
I am waiting to hear your cover. At the Gates rules!!!

Thanks a lot for your post.
The arpeggio of the clean part is awesome.

I think this old school Thrash vibe is due in part to the riffs and tuning and in part to the guitar amps. I used the Mercuriall VST Plugins (Spark and U530), that are really awesome.

I'm going to have another go at getting it down, will report back probably never when it undoubtedly defeats me once again.

FWIW I think you did a nice job on the solo. It sounded like a few of your bends might have been slightly sharp or flat in a few places, but otherwise you hit all of the notes. I never was a big fan of the tremelo arm flutter sound like in the original-- but I suppose you'll have to work on that if you want to absolutely nail the solo.
