I buggered a neck up on the Bloodbath guitar and decided to salvage it. I cut it as a six instead of a seven
I also visited a new supplier to have a look around his timbers :shannon2: He gave me a free 14 ft x 8" x 2" length of English Ash as a sample :woot: I planed and thicknessed it (super thin) and started this one.

A massive plank of free ash? Who is this new supplier?!

    Nice build, btw, as always.

Its just a local company that stocks a few basic hardwoods above the normal run of timber.

Not the typical question, but where did you get those saddles, in that color? All the searches I've done for the "VS" style saddles, the only way I've found to get silver-ish ones are to buy a whole bridge and steal the saddles.

A 14' slab of wood. As a sample. For free. :squint:

Every thread from pondman amazes me. I'm still trying to get my templates right while getting a headache measuring everything for the 20th time and then there suddenly pops up another thread from you with "I found some piece of wood so here is a guitar I almost finished in a few hours" :metal:

Lace X Bar in the neck and Lace Alumitone DB7 in the bridge.

I used leather dye for the first dark coat and sand back then Dylon Dark Grey and light sand back then Aniline black watered down with a touch of brown added. Its more of a black colour overall in daylight but takes on a the brown effect you can see in the pic under lamp light.

That's awesome. I'm going to try something like that with the pickguard for the baritone 6 I'm nearly done.

Hey Pondman, what are you using for your pickup cavity routing? Are you just routing straight into the body, or do you have templates? If you have templates, what's your process for making them?
