Hey SSO folks. i just bought the Crate TDP rackmount tube preamp from the bay! its almost impossible to find info about it. the very little ive found suggests that the TDP is pretty good for metal. heard a couple clips and it sounds like it might be pretty amazing when boosted for death metal!
Due to the lack of reviews/vids/etc ive taken a bit of a gamble. hoping its punchy/thumps and gets mean for the brootz :) looking forward to its arrival but until then if anyone has played one i would love to hear what you have to say about it. thanks

Alot will depend on your power amp and speakers, but it's based on the GX series preamp sections, which were used heavily in the death metal scene of the late 80s and early 90s.

You sure about that? The XLP is for sure, but the TDP is a tube preamp.

Oh, you're right. That was my mistake, I was thinking of the XLP.
