2nd gen Scarlets are fantastic for the price, i've got a 2i4 but i'm tempted to get something bigger for more I/O! Make sure the 2i2 has all the input / ouputs you need, the connections are pretty limited.

Yeah, your experience is NOT typical. Is counterfeiting bit there, is that a possibility? I'd also be really worried about what buying a Behringer in India would be like. They're generally held to be bottom of the barrel with respect to reliability.

I would go with Audient ID4, far superior pre amps.

I bought one a few months ago, no regrets! Works great with Mac especially.

I got myself a 2nd gen solo too about 6 months ago and it has been great so far! Just have to remember to set the right/ 2nd channel of you are recording guitar or bass and the first/ left for mic's, just in case since I saw some people saying that they can only hear the sound from the other speaker.

I ended up with a Scarlett 2i2 (2nd gen), and was in the exact same position as you, considering everything in that price range. It came down to the Scarlett and the Mackie Onyx Blackjack 2x2. I don't know how they've done it but Focusrite has built this fantastic reputation in the budget audio interface space. Maybe it's as simple as they look sexy next to the competition :p Jokes aside I'm very happy with the Scarlett. I needed it for Guitar Rig and recording into Logic X. I have a Mac and have had zero driver issues fortunately. I would recommend this one to anyone with a $150 budget for an interface. FWIW what helped me narrow it down was an article that reviewed all the major choices in the sub-$200 range, I'll see if I can hunt it down.
