If by "versatile", you mean "other genres of metal."
Urgh, this isn't helping my GAS for a new 7.
I tried out the black 7 string a while ago as I was curious about the scale length and it felt fine to me tension-wise although the 7th string felt a little thin. Not sure about this white one although it is growing on me...
It's too bad he wasted a few years with the Dean signature model. If he partnered up with Epi earlier during the Shogun days or whenever it was, I would imagine these would have sold waaaaay more than they will now.
I'm most def buying one. I went looking today and then I read they'll be available in November, hahaha. But yeah I have the Black one and I love it. Other than my EBMM BFR JP7, its the best 7 I've played, and in many ways I like it better than the JP.
I really want one now as well, better start saving!
Saving OR selling!!!! hahahahah
Trouble is I like the small collection of guitars that I have now!
I pretty much have a rotating selection of gear with a few mainstays. I got a legator 9 so my rg9 can go
Man, this guitar is looking pretty effin nice:
It looks awesome, I don't get the whole "painting the fretboard' thing when Maple would look just as good.
But, I don't play 7s anymore, when I did, I slightly preferred my AX7521 over my RG7321/K-7...
They're listed on online stores for preorders now. $899 for 6-string and $949 for 7-string. Looks like prices have gone up.
The Andertons price in the UK is still £799 (luckily). I don't know what that converts to in USD. Hopefully I can snag one of these for my birthday next year.
I have to be 100% honest here: I have owned one of the original Epi LP classic 7 strings for 6 years now, and despite HUGE ASS NECK (seriously, not joking in the slightest, LARGEST NECK EVER....)....I would not trade it for one of these Heafy models. I'm not a shredder, or really any sort of technical rhythm player. Even with the better neck profile and joint, the COSMETICS of the older, supposedly "worse" models blow these out of the water. Maybe that's just me, though.....
All I really want is a 7 string version of the ORIGINAL 1998-ish Joe Perry LP, in a 7 string format........
