According to EB they coat the wrap wire. So they should be extra coated.

Some people have had issues with them according to the EB forum but so far EB has kicked ass at making thinks right.

      :(

Elixirs suck for sevens though. I need more chocie than .056 and a .068.

      Going all right.

      How's it going with you?

I with Ernie Ball would get the caoted singles out so I could slap together some sets for my guitars.

If you read on here everyone says they sound like shit! And muddy as hell. I always felt that the neck pickup was OK but the bridge was a little too muddy with to much distortion. I thought the 1527 came with the same kind of pickups?V7-7 and V8-7. I could be wrong!?!?

So how are those pups I sent you? Did you just install them into something or did you use the baseplates?

It is way better than the Custom. It is a lot lower output, though, so you have to raise the pickup closer to the strings. It is also a lot more dynamic. The Custom has a wonderful midrange roar to it, but is nowhere near as versatile.

Nah, the Custom is pretty versatile, although it is definitely on the hotter end of the spectrum. Eddie's pickup is actually very similar to a Custom with an Alinco5 magnet in it, which makes it darker and more scooped.

Take a look at Wolfetone Pickups. He'll rewind a JB7 for $50, and it sounds amazing in mahogany. Growling mids, punchy lows, singing highs. It is the bridge pickup I spent my whole life looking for.

Both are smooth pickups, so it comes down to what you're looking for. The Jazz is slightly scooped, which gives it a musical attack, great definition, and a rounded sound. The '59 is more midrangey, with warm response and that classic "honk" that one expects out of an LP neck pickup.
