Well i guess that's because Metallica and Pantera are two of the key acts in metal, and are big influences on a lot of players when they're first getting into metal and guitars... so naturally they want to learn songs from their favorite bands... I see a lot of younger players these days learning A7X and Atreyu and all the other bands of "today", so I guess people will always want to play what's popular.

I wasn't in any legit band or anything.. I just jammed with a group of guys that I went to high school with... and we played random parties and "get-togethers" for friends and shit.
Trust me it was nothing spectacular.. mostly just a lot of bad tone, sloppy playing, and old school Metallica and Pantera covers

Well when you're starting out playing live shows, any experience is good experience.. it'll teach you what to do and what not to do...
like forgetting your 9v adapter that powers your entire pedal board at home, or stepping on your bass player's cable and pulling it out of his output jack.. yeah that shit seriously happened to me  luckily we were playing at a kegger and everyone was too drunk to really care

Sounds like it went pretty damn well... a standing ovation is always good. So what types of music were you guys playing? Any songs I'd know?
And sucks about the bass player.. but I've been in those positions before where work got in the way of my playing/jamming. Definitely sucks!

Yeah that's one good point.. It was nice turning 18 and being able to get into more metal shows. We went to tons of rock and metal shows back in the day, even in Hattiesburg. And we'd sneak drinks and listen to death metal and shit. Haddenfield Massacre was our favorite band to see.
Now i'll soon be 24 and I'm like the boring old guy. I don't go to bars, not even for shows. And I stay away from the booze now! The only concerts I've seen lately have been at the Biloxi coliseum or at the arena or dome in New Orleans, and that's cuz I like to sit down at the show  That's just sad.

Ah yes...You're now in that sad period between 18 and 21, where you can go to the bar and see and smell the alcohol and see everyone else drinking, but you are completely forbidden by law from indulging in it  It's like purgatory.
It's funny cuz I felt the same way when I turned 18, but by the time I turned 21 I had completely stopped drinking.

Nope, no power amps or 2x12s dude, but I need them too! That's actually why I'm trying to sell gear. I wanna do a rack setup.. I'm considering going with a rackmount POD, Carvin power amp and 2x12.
And if you like PRS 6-strings, go to C&M Music and check out the new PRS SE Custom 24. The new ones have the PRS bird inlays and quilted tops.

Hey dude.. since you're already sploodgin' over your Blackjack C7, wanna buy another one? lol... I'm seriously gassing for a new axe, so I'm selling my C7 for $400.. I'm also selling a few Boss pedals for about 40% off normal price.. so spread the word!

Don't feel bad dude, I changed my major a few times before I found what I really wanted to do.
Also, IF you don't get that scholarship, I do recommend going to a junior college for a little while, at least to get your basics. Don't take you basics at USM, because they purposely make them too difficult and they cost over 3 times as much as basics at PRCC.

I stress to people all the time: DON'T come to a university until you have a decided major.. otherwise you'll waste a lot of money while you dick around and pick a major, and you'll take a bunch of hardass classes that you could've breezed through at a junior college.
And I say all this from personal experience.. I graduate in May and it makes a total of 6 years of college! The first 2 of which were spent at PRC dicking off, the second 2 were spent at USM trying to decide on a major (and spending an assload of unnecessary money), and the last 2 have been spent actually completing my area of study.

      Just my:2c: :)
