Not a bad idea sometimes lol.
Got my new pickups in just haven't had good amp time yet.
Will do some pics when I get another camera, probably about time you're back.
      Later, good luck. (work sucks)

Hey dude, i actually started to prefer the X's here lately over the standard D Activators but it really depends on the rig you are running them through. The D Activators are really mid heavy and very well balanced and the X's have more gain and are a little more bass heavy. I run mine with my 5150 and my rack setup and i prefer them over the standard set. But i wouldn't hesitate a bit to through a d activator in the neck, those sound SWEET as fak in the neck!

Got them in and they look deadly but after trying to clean up the old switch and pot I decided to say hell with it and just order new ones to make it easier on myself. My old cheapo solder gun won't hardly melt butter anymore .
Can't understand why they don't just all switch to quick-connects like emg.

Going very well lately except everyone keeps sending holiday sweets home with us at all the various Christmas dinners (we had like four separate functions this year, uhg).
Been injury free enough lately to get back into more isolations even though only have free-weights/bodyweight stuff (no cables or machines). Not to jinx myself, but I've yet to even get a cold this year (yet). Still miss the gym because getting enough volume and isolations with only free-weights is so much more taxing than finishing out workouts on cables and such. Oh well, I'd rather have those few $ for gear anyways. How's the wrist holding up?

Our standard humbucker is at 3.5k, we dont normally do custom windings, but i can see if i can make an exception in this case if you'd like.

The Aluma 90 has a 2.4k resitance as well as the X-Bar, i could put a 2.4 secondary bobbin on an Alumitone Humbucker, but i think the output may be weaker than the Aluma 90. I would say your best bet would be to get a standard Alumitone HB. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Don't particularly care for Vs or EMGs on that last one. ;)

Oh, when was that? The Schecter website still has it pictured with the skull.

I still wouldn't buy the C-7 version anyway as I also don't like TOMs (didn't really mention that in the thread), but I'll grant that plenty of people do.

no, i have had next to no time to play. all i've had time for is that last soundcloud demo.

i never tried anything other than the 4x12's TBH. it gets quite complex, but indeed there might be some gold there. i know many people swear by the phd 2x12. i also like the blackface 2x12 for cleans. let me know if you find some good ones, and when i get time i'll try my analysis on them and see if i can't see how in-phase they are, or if they can be easily tweaked.

Ya I was thinking I might like the regular D activators because from descriptions they seemed closer to my favourite EMG tone. I want to try some dimarzio's because I like EMG so much but only have my Duncan stock pickups and Ibanez INF3 and 4 to compare with. The INF's aren't THAT bad but I'm trying to put my preference for EMG to all kinds of tests. I think these DA's might be the passives that will get me the metal tone I need. I've always liked actives, any "downside" or "disadvantage" they have is something I either can live with or don't mind. I have yet to find a passive that come close to the intense scream of active EMG, I have a feeling these DA's will do it.

Hey I have a question about the DA-X. First I'm wondering why is the bridge a high power and the neck a medium power pickup? I've seen this in some other pickups too but never fully understood why they make them like that, is it a volume level issue? And you say the DA-X are between the DA and the X2N. You said the DA-X are higher output but not as much as the X2N and they are brighter than the regular DA's. I can see the part about the output, but on the site the DA-X have more bass and way less treble than the DA, wouldn't that make them sound less bright?

thanks for the tip - i haven't tried that combo yet. I have tried something similar - same cabs but 57 on axis on the Treadplate and 409 Dyn on the XXL. I use it for a punchy, somewhat scooped metalcore tone. if I get a minute I'll have to try your suggestion out.
