Yeah but he acts like he's the most important thing ever, and i'm fairly certain he does that stuff for the noteriety. he goes to politcal events like he's important,too. I cant get bono at all.

I like Henry Rollins mainly because he hates Bono so much.

I thought U2 was cool enough back in the day, but the band really just does the same schtick all of the time and never tones it down or anything...plus they totally sold out with the recent iPod commercials and w/e.

As for gibson, I'm so sick of people thinking Gibsons are great guitars! Every new model is just a different color Les Paul. The last new model they had with a "new shape" was the Nighthawk, and that thing sucked the big one. It's a shame they waste so many great tops on POS guitars. I saw one with a beautiful piece of curly maple the other day, price $4200...fuck! So I picked it up anyway, even though I don't get along with Les Pauls, the thing weighed a ton and was impossible to play, neck felt like a baseball bat.

Being old enough to have done lighting for Black Flag, I can tell you that Henry Rollins has a very low bullshit tolerance. He has his convictions, and doesn't care who agrees, on camera or off. He is to be respected GREATLY for that. On the other hand, there is another singer I did lighting for way back in the day. I guy that makes Bono seem like a mute monk. That would be the insidious Michael Stipe. He is just so damned important! Just ask him!

When U-2 first came out, Ireland was still in turmoil if I remember, and they were young guys raised in a country at what amounts to civil war. There first album showed there concerns pretty well.(Despite the lavish Steve Lillywhite overproduction). There were really good bands from Ireland back then, such as my fav, Stiff Little Fingers.(Think about it!)

I hate Michael Stipe. I broke up with a girlfriend over REM once. I couldn't say anything nice about their singer. Sorry anyone who likes REM, but they are the only band I can't stand for even a second.
