What was your main before your seven?

I was moving around guitar cases this evening, and it made me start thinking about all the six stringers I have around. I couldn't help comparing them to what I am playing now.

I played USA Jacksons exclusively before. They have a feel that I just really bonded with, then build quality is superb, and the tone is reflective of the high quality wood they use.

This definately influenced my choice of seven went I seriously went shopping (I started with whatever I could grab, since I joined a band that required a seven). I didn't like Gibson, Fender, ESP/LTD, Ibanez, or Schecter anywhere near as much as my Jacksons, so I knew I wouldn't like them any better in a six. I don't mean to sound like a snob, but I couldn't step down to a lesser instrument. I've been spoiled and am now accustomed to certain things in my instrument.

Since Jackson custom shop was more than I had money for, I went on some recommendations and bought from a small custom builder (KXK Guitars). If I was playing something different.

So, what was your main guitar before your seven, why did you like it, and how does it influence what you look for in a seven?

Here, I'll go for Mike. "I played Jacksons before, and I have a Jackson now." Mike = lucky bastard

I had a Washburn MG-24B with EMG-81/EMG-S/EMG-85, but it would've been Parker Fly Deluxe if I could have afforded one back then.

i've pretty much had only three main guitars. my first was a Hohner (70's LP knockoff) that i gave to my brother, second was my RG570 which i still have, and now is my RG7621.

the transition from the LP styled guitar to the RG570 was huge, but i dug it. the switch to the 7 was comparatively a breeze.

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

I switched to Ibanez about 6 months before I went to 7.

I won an RG770 in a guitar competition in 1993. I didn't really want the guitar, because I was a Charvel/Jackson fan and had one of each at the time. It seemed everyone was going to Ibanez, and I just wasn't buying the hype. Once I spent a couple of weeks with it, my eyes were opened and I got rid of the Charvel/Jacksons.

While I loved my Charvel/Jacksons, they never really fit me out of the box. I had to add Ibanez trems and aftermarket pickups to make them acceptable to me.

Once I got the Ibanez, it had everything I wanted. No routing for trems, no soldering. Shortly after that, I got my UV77MC and that was it.

even after i got my 7 my Rhoads V was still my main guitar... and currently, since i don't have a playing 7, the first guitar i built has replaced my Rhoads as my main ax, i don't even touch the Rhoads anymore...

Gibson LP studio. Can anyone tell why David has a burning hatred for all Gibsons?

I had a Charvel. This with a floyd instead-

I also had a white pearl NJ Series BC Rich Warlock with a reversed headstock and a baby blue Platinum Series Warlock. Those were cool guitars. I miss them.

My first Ibanez guitar right before I went 7-string in 1998, an RG 450 DX WH -
