I compared several at the GC - no 2 tops were identical - Ive seen a few pics online and none of them look the same either

Bookmatching is incredible on them, it makes me wonder if they are real maple or just a veneer.

guarantee you its just a veneer. its not feasible for ibanez to do 1/8 or 1/4" tops on all their guitars. i have an old RG570FM i stripped the paint off, its definately a veneer

I figured, it's kinda hard to get a bookmatched quilt like that for that price. Looks nice regardless.

theres really nothing wrong with doing a veneer top, its not like an 1/8 or even a 1/4 inch top is going to have a noticeable impact on tone... i'd say a 1/2" top wouldn't even have a huge impact on tone, definately nowhere near as big as a pickup change would.

What about depth? I don't have a veneer top to inspect so I can't tell, but do veneer tops have the same depth/3D look that real quilt/flame tops do?


(I kept wanting to type depther for some reason lol)
