Just too damn thin, not enough bite and not enough feel. I don't know how you guys can play these things. :: chrisquigley.com :: Sevenstring Registry :: Share Your Music :: Share Your Patches :: Sevenstring.org MySpace chmod +ax /bin/laden |

![]() | My own problem with 9s isn't so much the floppiness, but I always feel like I'm going to break them...they just feel weak. My main 6 has 13-64 right now...that's a bit better. ![]() "I was always interested in the 'little black dots.' ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 9's can have plenty of bite and feel IMO, I guess it could depend on many factors (rig, picks, technique, etc). I prefer thicker wound strings than found on 9s, but when I've had 9's it's sounded just fine. That being said, on some guitars it can be too floppy, where on others it can be fine. I've had guitars with 9's tuned down to D standard and it was awesome, and others where it was lame. Lately I've been preferring 10-56 though. I don't like the plain steel strings to be thicker than 10s though, it feels too stiff otherwise. |

Well I don't think you could tune 13's to standard without reinforcing your neck with a piece of 3" steel. ![]() | |
