After playing 9's for years, I went up to a 11-68 set before eventually dropping back to 10-56. I'd been on a big acoustic kick, and I found that I seemed to phrase better on heavier strings, when I had to fight a little more.

Heavier strings clean my playing up a ton. Might be a subliminal thing, but I'm a lot more precise, especially with odd chord shapes.

But yeah, the guitar with the 13s (my Jackson) has a really really thin neck...I think it'd snap like a twig

Albeit on my sixxer. No thanks. Just too damn thin, not enough bite and not enough feel. I don't know how you guys can play these things.

Yeah, 9s are slim indeed, I use them but I also use 10s too (on my white 7620) which I like better.

I use 9's.

I like 10's, for riffage, but lead all the way for my leads.

real men use 8s! I actually used to use 7s! Those were hard to find let me tell you!
