Steinberger enthusiasts?

I'm looking for a Steinberger right now myself. I'm hoping to find a reasonable GL, but I'll take a GLB as well. I'm playing a lot of keyboards recently so their size makes them really convenient.

You know, the one and only time I was ever in a "proper" studio with a band I was in (the final product blew, IMO, and I think we broke up before we released it, so I don't have a copy before anyone asks

), they had a Steinberger lying around the studio. I picked it up while our vocalists was re-doing a vocal part that really didn't need to be redone (but he;d wrote the song and it "meant" a lot to him, and...

) and was so amused by the thing that I ended up overdubbing my solo on that track with the thing.

They're not for me - something just didn't quite sit right - but they're fun instruments.

Sure there is! But, they aren't common.

Keeping this somewhat topical, here's a photo with Rikk Beatty (long time jemsiter) & me with my Steinberger playing at the Sully benefit show (local musician/friend who was killed in a helicopter while serving in Iraq) in February 2004.

...and yes, I was drunk as fuck.

Who owns Steinberger now? Not Gibson, still, is it?

And somewhat related...anyone tried the FR speed loaders yet?

The company? Gibson owns the Steinberger guitar company. Ned Steinberger did design the new Synapse line. In addition, he runs NS Basses (mainly upright piezo basses).

I have. They are really cool, but still in their infancy. Personally, I still think the Steinberger headless design blows them away though. It's hard to improve on perfection.

They are $379, but you can find them used for way cheaper. I got mine for $200!!!
