Shannon, you knew I'd pipe in
![]() Bad pic, but you can see my baby, my 1986 GM1TA with EMG 81, TransTrem, Haz Labs EQ, and mounted Roland GK2. I will NEVER sell that guitar. All the other guitars I've played barely keep up with it. I will most likely get one of the TransScales once I have that much disposable income. I'm a Steinberger player for life. "Dude, you need to find the right fucking meds to be on, because you are the most unstable person I know." |

Count me in as another enthusiast. Whilst it's not a real Steinberger, I'm lucky enough to own a Spirit GT-Pro. I was lusting after one for years, and finally got one last year. Insanely comfortable, and the S-Trem is surprisingly stable. The Select pups kinda sucked though, but the guitar is much improved after a swap to DiMarzios. I was hoping to install EMGs but I doubt there's enough room for the electronic guts. Oh well. If the Spirit version is this good, I'd LOVE to try an actual Steinie.

Nice guitar, urkvlt!
Sleeper, ya got pics? Yeah, I was sooooooo surprised by the quality of the Spirit line. I would not hesitate to get another. I do want a USA model though. Here's a story on customer service from MusicYo... I ordered my 2nd Steinie from them as I needed a backup. It was great except that the trem arm hole was oblong & therefore the bar had a tendency to fall out. I emailed them & explained my predicament. They said for me to give them my address & they send me a brand new trem! I asked them for their address so I could send them the defective trem. Their reply...."Don't worry about it. Keep it or chuck it. ;-)" I got the new trem & it was perfect. Great experience all the way around. |

go for it
Everyone thinks they're crap, but my god, pick one up, and it's not even like playing it. I swear, those guitars play you... You just tell them what to play and they put your fingers in the right spots. |

Ive been wanting a Steinberger for a couple years at least now...but I refuse to get any model that doesnt have a trans-trem. The one Shannon posted is my favorite, but comes with an S-trem... I keep waiting for either an old one with a single hum, or 1hum 1single. But by the time those roll around Ive spent my money on bicycles or something else.

I'd love to try a Steinburger, but I'm hooked on 7's now. I have no plans to buy another 6 ever again. If they made a 7 I'd give it a try.

I had a Steinberger Spirit GP-2R or whatever the v shaped one is and it bites, I have little doubt the higher range or original Steinbergers are nice though.
