Parker Fly? Anyone?
Anyone ever played one of these?
I've always loved the styling, just curious to how they play. I've never seen one in a store that I can remember.

Play - like butter.
Sound - incredible. Very clear and articulate, but still warm. It sounds very modern and rich. |

I used to always see those ads for Parker in GW magazines with Reeves Gabrels and I used to just admire those body lines. I love how its ALMOST a super-strat body, just with 50% of the body carved out. What are they made from? Weren't some/all of them non-wood bodied guitars? |

The backs and the necks were some form of composite material, very durable. (Resin and fiberglass, maybe other things.) The fretboard is also some sort of high-tech composite, and it has stainless steel (glued on) frets.
I'm pretty sure the main body is/was always some form of tone wood. |

Parkers are all wood, and they're very lightweight and "alive" feeling. They only have a thin outer coating of carbon/glass fibre on the back of the body, the back of the neck and the fretboard.
Fly Deluxes are mostly poplar bodies and basswood necks. Fly Classics (like the one i have for sale here) have mahogany bodies with basswood necks. The Fly Mojo has a mahogany body and mahogany neck, and NiteFlys are bolt-ons with various body/neck wood combinations. Fly and NiteFly models are made in the USA. Their P-series are imports, and do not have the composite shell or stainless steel frets. |

Parker flys pwn...
Except, they make neither a seven nor a lefty. I've been trying to get them to make each for some time, but they claim it's too expensive and that I'd be the only one who bought one.The necks are extremely fast, the guitars are very durable and lightweight. They hold a tune better than anything I've tried, and the weather doesn't seem to affect their necks at all. I can play in standard with 0.010"s and drop down to Db without a setup. Quite remarkable guitars. |

If they ever DO make a 7, Jackson may lose an endorser. Seriously.

I've played a few, and they've all been amazing. Just stupidly nice to play. A seven would be awesome, but it doesn't look it is ever going to happen. I mean, they are a niche as it is.
But they are sooooo nice to play. |

INCREDIBLE feel - every time I play one I have to stop myself from bringing it home.

Yeah. They have gotten pricey!
I remember the first time I tried one, and I almost bought it, but opted for the RG7620, instead. That's how cheap the Fly used to be, and how expensive the RG7620 used to be. ![]() |
