I had dropped by the "house of Roman" on a recent trip there. I talked to some really nice folks(NOT Ed), and the prices are through the roof, BUT... I asked if they had any swirl Ibanez guitars in, and they had just sold a UV77MC ATD that was waiting to ship. I saw the sales order, and some nice bloke in Australia had just paid $10,000!!! Oh, and plus shipping! He bought 2 guitars, I don't remember what the other was.

Ahh, the ultra rare Ed-Banez Multicolour. I'd give a lot to own a UVMC but that does not include $10,000 bucks.

Hideous, eh? If ed's to be believed (normally I'd say no, but that's a LoPro and the monkey grip is good), someone broke their 7VWH's neck, so Ed built them a replacement.

Ha. I'm reading his Ibanez in stock listings... He's got one Jem90th for $3100 (already VERY steep), and then three more at "call for price."

For some unintelligent reason American consumers are fiercely loyal to certain brand names. I fully expect to get flamed on the Internet by a bunch of other dealers who do not have the capabilities that my shop has. These dealers pretend to be ex customers who are unhappy. (Funny they never sign their names).
He's got this way of inspiring confidence...

This one's my personal favorite:

The one on the top is presumably an Ed Roman custom, the one on the bottom is presumably a JS100 (as this pic has been around for long before the JS1200, and I've never seen a JS1IR without a middle singlecoil). Here's what Ed has to say:

Quote:
Notice all the bondo & body filler on the original Ibanez body
This material adds unnecessary weight to your guitar
This material absolutely destroys the resonant qualities of the wood
That is the main reason people purchase custom made bodies from my shop
And you know, he's right, I bet a body with all that filler on it would sound like crap.

Thing is, a body with all that filler on it would be PLAINLY visible under the JS100's transparent red finish. Now, it COULD be a JS1IR, cause, I mean, look at all that routing on the front - a picture this blurry, you'd have to admit that there very well COULD be a single-coil route between the two hums. I'm pretty sure theres not, but it's beside the point anyway - look how the wood still shows staining in the bridge pickup cavity. Funny how you don't see that in the neck pickup cavity or the bridge route, eh? Or between the two pickups where it looks like Ed did a bit of routing of his own for some reason? And, while we're at it, it's awfully strange the white filler didn't take any stain, while everything else on the guitar did.

What we're basically looking at is a stripped down JS100 with a bit of extra routing done to make it look more like a JS1IR, with some white gunk slapped all over the front as "proof" of its inferior craftsmanship.

He's not as bad as he used to be, but his page used to be one long slam on Asian craftsmanship in favor of the "much better American and German made" work. Um, yeah. White power FTW.
