Other than the bridge and pickups, no difference. The Jackson Professional (MIJ)models of the earlier eighties were otherwise identical to their American made counterparts, right down to wood choice and the MOP logo. They so hurt US sales that the line was dumbed down.

Not really. That's a 1990-1992 Rhoads Professional, identical to the USA guitars made during that time - except for the frets, which are regular "jumbo" rather than the USA Rhoads "narrow/tall" - just made in Japan. They're really nice.

For that time period, even the bridge and PUs are the same - Jackson was using the JT-590 on the USA guitars, too.

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

That's a "Rhoads Pro", probably early 90's due to the Schaller floyd, I've been wanting a white one for years and years, ever since I first saw them. They sold for about $1k new back in the day.

AFAIK Kellys, King Vs, and Rhoads all use the same keyboard-looking molded case, at least for the imports.

Yeah this case was pieced together, it is a Jackson keyboard style case but the bottom is for an RRV and the top is cut for a Kelly. Wierd, but does the job so I'm not worried.

rgsuperstrat has a spectacular aura about
I have a snow white (color, not graphics) soloist neck thru Professional. I got my info by calling FMIC. They helped me out on the year and everything. But yet my brother has a soloist same everything, and they did not tell him anything. So my answer is, quality is awesome, and as far as are they that hard to track, yes. The Jackson web site has a resources section that will explain the serial number saga, to a full, half ass extent!
