Looking for a backup guitar
Hey guys, don't post here very often since I stopped playing 7 strings, but I do come by once in awhile.
Right now I'm using an ESP M-II (maple board, OFR) as my main guitar. I have a gibson lp custom from the 70's, but it needs a lot of fretwork to be playable and it's also tough for me to play metal on due to the neck difference. I've been toying with the idea of buying another guitar to have as my backup/second/downtuned guitar but I'm not really sure what I want. As far as specs go, I'd really like a floyd rose of some kind (OFR and Edge Lo-pro's are my favorite), 24 frets, HH, HSH, HSS designs. For fretboards I really hate rosewood, but would take it on the right guitar. Favorite brands are ESP and Ibanez, I do like some jacksons though. I was also thinking about buying this guys ESP M-II Deluxe from the 90's, with the licensed floyd, but I'm not sure how that bridge holds up against an OFR. Was checking out a lot of RG's on ebay, people really don't understand prices on these guitars at all (had a hard time finding one I wanted). So, can anyone lead me to some guitars to look at? My two favorite guitars I've owned are the ESP M-II and my old RG3120 (why did I sell it!). Won't look at schecters at all, can't deal with the necks. So, anything you can think of to try? Price range is $600-800. |

its a shame you missed out on shawn's RG520QS, it would have fit most of your specs perfectly. my advice is an RG570 with a pickup swap, or try the RG550 reissue if you can find it with maple board, i believe those retailed around 800... if not, find an old RG550 with maple board, would be a great choice.
