EMGs in my Yamaha, before and after video's

Okay, so I got this Yamaha RGX Standard... Looks nice, plays great... but didn't quite sound right.
Here's a video with the stock pickups, recorded a while ago:

Sounds like it needs new pickups... So I ordered a Steve Lukather Pro EMG set. Which I installed yesterday.
And this is what it sounds like now:

Well, to be honest, the sound can't be compared directly, because I recorded the guitar with the camera mic in the first one, and direct with the second one. But still you can hear the scratchy, thin tone in the first one (in fact, the poor recording quality cuts some of the treble, making it sound better than it did in person).
Now it's all smooth and tight.

Great playing

I personally love EMGs, although I haven't played many other pickup setups. The singles have served me well.

Very nice. High-end Yamahas are awesome. It's too bad most people's impressions of Yamaha guitars come from experiencing the thousands of crap entry-level "starter pack" guitars they sell friggin' everywhere.

This space intentionally left blank.

Thanks everyone!
These are my first EMGs, and I didn't know exactly what to expect, but the tight, slick sound is something I definitely enjoy. My other high-output guitars are 'wilder'.

Yea, what annoys me is that most stores don't stock anything other than the starter guitars from Yamaha (Pacifica) and the usual acoustics (APX and all that). I know that there are great high-end Yamaha's, and Yamaha is one of my favourite brands... I just can't go out and try them anywhere.
Three of my friends have owned a good Yamaha at some point. This is the first Yamaha for me.

I've got an old RGX621 that completely rips and I also put EMG's in it! Nice score on that beast you've got there - i'm still trying to find one used!

Well, actually I'm not sure if this guitar is a keeper. If you're interested, drop me a PM with your best offer

I've also put two tracks on my Soundclick, because the Youtube audio quality doesn't quite do it justice (they seem to put a lot of compression on):
