It seems Carvin is working on a headless design

I got this quote from a youtube comment posted by the guys from Carvin:

Allan has been trying to get his signature guitar to be headless. The problem is Carvin isn't allowed to use a bridge system that will allow it to be headless as that bridge is owned and controlled by a competitor. So we are working on a custom system and a new prototype. This may or may not be a production model Carvin instrument if and when you see him play it on stage soon.

That'd be awesome. I'm really starting to dig the look of steinbergers and a carvin headless would be really cool.

I've seen that vid, pretty cool, ive always liked his Carvins. I've seen vids of Holdsworth playing a headless too. He is amazing.

i don't see the point of a headless guitar, doesn't the added wood help sustain?

Holdsworth seems to prefer the "lighter is better" approach.

Holdsworth is the man, and his signature model looks pretty sweet. I actually really like the headstock on his current model; a headless model from Carvin would probably be awesome...if they could figure out a good bridge system.

I tried out a used Holdsworth model in a store once, and was absolutely shocked at how huge the neck was. Totally not what i expected. You wanna talk baseball bats, this was the Louisville Slugger of guitar necks.

Conversely, I've heard that a headstock can add unwanted overtones
