I'm turning my RG370 into a kvlt machine...

My RG370 has just been sitting around for ages. It's black, and I OFR'd it. It had a cool 80's theme going on, but I'm tired of it. It had an original 1982 Donkey Kong Sticker on it, Yngwie Strap, Green and Pink Bobbin covers, but I'm tired of it.

I took the neck off today, I masked off the frets, and I'm going to scallop the frets tomorrow.

I de-bagded the HS, which resulted in a cool matte finish, so I started sanding the whole body.

I riped out all the electronics, and I'm going to look for a set of Blackouts to pop in.

Now, I'm nowhere near done, but I'll post progress pics as I go along.

Stay metal.

I'll be real interested to hear and see about the scalloping bro. I'm giving serious consideration to busting that shit out on the last 4-6 frets on my 24 fretter for extra playability and sustain higher up.

METAL does not care what you do or do not understand...

I've found through this that scalloping is near useless on the lower frets ( <12) of a guitar with jumbo frets, at least from my experience with this.

But yeah, it's totally worth it on the higher ones. Just make sure you follow these guides
Project Guitar :: How to Scallop a guitar neck
Project Guitar :: Scalloping Your Upper Frets
and never rush.

Here are some in progress pics.

I'm doing the same process to my RG7621 now, sans scallops. I want to get an RG570 neck off the bay so they'll match.

Dr. Von Goosewing will become famous soon enough
I know this is the sort of question that's asked about a bazillion times, but was it easy to swap to the OFR? Is it a direct replacement?

Have you thought about staining the fretboard? That would certainly increase the kvltness...

Haha, I have it stained right now, but not ebony, with a dark brown. I really want to get a neck neck for it though. I'm really disappointed with my scalloping on the higher frets. I don't have the correct dremel pieces to do it properly.

Yeah, it is an exact replacement. The Edge III is based off the Edge, which is based off of an OFR. The only thing is, the plastic cover needs to be cut a bit, to fit the trem block. I just leave it off. But yeah, it is a direct replacement. I would always get into fights with people on ultimate-guitar about it (I'm One Way Ticket there)
