what do y'all think of this?
Ibanez GRGM51 Mikro Sonik Electric Guitar from zZounds.com! My job has me traveling a lot more than I want to, and it's a biatch taking a guitar on an airplane, so I'm looking for alternatives. This seems pretty self contained, and I don't need anything super special if I'm just jamming, but I wanted to see if anyone has actually seen this in person, or even played it. thanks, Shane |

I've played one before. It'd definately need a setup, but it was fun.
The built in speaker isn't all that great, but for the price and your use, that probably won't matter. Go for it man! Also, I didn't know the body was mahagony. Interesting....Mod it like crazy! Locking tuners, a high output pickup....etc. ![]() |

Thanks man. I was thinking about dropping a better pickup in it, and just buying the 1/4" to usb guitar input to go straight into my laptop. I guess it has onboard distortion, so it's not like I couldn't edit stuff in cakewalk... lot's of EQ and compression never hurt anyone, too bad.
I just need something to jam on, b/c I'm away so much, that it's driving me crazy not having an axe! |

Another (slightly costlier) proposition is a Spirit or Steinberger "broom handle" headless guitar. They're pretty tiny (30" from tip to tip) and full scale length, with great trems that NEVER go out of tune... although finding double-ball strings is obnoxious.
Also, the Vox AmPlugs have surprisingly good sound and are pretty tweakable. A slightly more expensive (but full-on recording-quality) proposition would be a Line 6 Pocket Pod. |

Those are cool but you cant turn them up very loud using the on board speaker because they feed back on them selves
Each guitarist has an evil fat 40 year old blueswankler trying to get out, If you give in to temptation you'll be sitting next to a fender playing john lee hooker while trying to keep your combover in place. - Desecrated

Thanks guys.
I actually started looking at the boss micro br 4 track. It seems pretty sharp for its size, and I don't really need too much power out on the road... mainly want to be able to get the ideas out of my head, so I can actually think and learn stuff! It sucks being in class and having a riff stuck in my head, and then not being able to get it worked out afterwards...I'll have to check out that vox amplug thingy and the guitars, too. I'm not dead set on the ibby, just looking for something solid that won't break the bank too badly. |

I wan't to buy a mini guitar some day! I'd really like a Xiphos or Explorer shaped mini guitar, that would be rad! |
