I don't know how I feel about them. It's not really the guitars or hardware themselves but if anything is black it suddenly becomes very boring and uninteresting to me. I'd say one exception though is the Xiphos.

Loooooooove them. Of all the six-string and seven-string guitars I've owned by now, 6 of them have been black - or some shade of it.

i kinda like black more in a vintage-style guitar and not on modern guitars. I certainly have no love for RG-style guitars in black just cuz they're waaay overdone. on the other hand the BB King Lucille has been one black guitar i've lusted for since i was like 16 when i didn't even understand how a varitone switch worked.

I like that my UV7BK is black and i'm starting to like black guitars more. My first 7-string was an 7620 BK and I hated that it was black so I refinished it arctic white. I still like the black and green look alot on the UV.

I have a few points on black guitars.

First, it depends on the quality of the finish. The best black guitar I had was an ESP MII Deluxe. It was an older one with a one hum / single config. That was a nice finish job. Very glossy...glassy looking, and was blacker than a black Ibanez RG something I had. It sounds like BRico Jr. does a nice finish too from what I've read from owners here.

Secondly, if the finish isnt that great, accessorize. The green dot UV comes to mind. Spice it up. A plain black guitar can look way rad with some different coloured pickups and a matching nylon DiMarzio ClipLock.

Lastly, all those crazy shaped BC Rich's, Moser's, and stuff like that look great in black. I'm not sure if black has a slimming effect on some of the bigger bodies like the 'Beast', or if it just compliments the menacing-ness of the shape? But, yeah. Pointy shapes look good in black.

i think black guitars look better when somebody playing them. Black fits any color, so it looks good.

For guitars alone: here is where exotic wood and figured wood tops look best. But to be honest, it looks a bit messy when somebody is playing them and is wearing other colors that don't macht, IMO.

And 70% of my shirts are black, so black guitars look best on me when I'm playing. My red sunburst guitar (that I left in the US) and my light blue bass (that I left in the US) very rarely went with the clothes that I was wearing.

I love the way exotic woods, figured tops, and unusual colors look, but, in pretty much all cases, black looks better to me - or something close like very dark forest green.
