![]() | What Do You Think About My Jakson Dinky? (Pics) I have a 02 Jackson Dinky that I got for free since a local guitar store destroyed my other Jackson King V. It has a 1 Volume, 1 Tone, and a EMG Gain Booster (Which is stupid). When I got it, I sanded the neck down, cleaned the neck, and swapped out the Jackson Floyd Rose, and put a Official Floyd Rose in (I recently blocked it). And now I want to get new pickups put in, but not sure what kind to get. I play Heavy Metal, from Decapitated, Necrophagist, to Tool, and King Crimson. I thought about EMG 81, 85's, but then heard that the Blackouts where better, so I can't make up my mind. Any suggestions? Here's some pictures ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() | Pretty damn nice man. That sucks that they destroyed your V. But good they gave you a free guitar because of it. Did you get to choose the guitar? Try the Blackouts. OR the Duncan Metal Livewires. They're an 18v system. "DO NOT ORDER THOSE MAGNETS....you WILL SAY HELLAOUCH" -Ibznorange |

I am looking for a real heavy thick sounding pickup, that doesn't sound muddy when playing Technical Death Metal where all the notes kind of just run together. I'll probably end up trying out the Blackouts as soon as I can find a guitar with those pickups in. I'll look into the Live Wires too. Thanks

![]() | I wanted to put a Floyd in my King V, but wasn't sure if that was possible. And I asked a local guitar shop if they did stuff like that, and they told me that they could do it with ease, that they've done them before. So I let them try to put it in, and they cut the posts out like a U instead of a O, and they tried to glue the posts in to hold the trem in. So when I went to pull on the tremelo, it flew out. So instead of getting what I paid for the guitar, they let me pick one of their guitars out, and I chose that Jackson DKMG Dinky. And it was well worth the hassle. In my opinion. |

The Blackouts were a big upgrade - especially if you want a really thick, defined tone. They have a bigger, ballsier sound to them than EMGs do and every note just leaps out at you. You also definitely came out ahead here - losing a guitar sucks, but not when you get a way nicer one in exchange ![]() _________________________ "I am so omniscient, if there was to be two omnisciences, I would be both!" - ZTO My Soundclick Page |

The AHB-1's Cutting Edge - Blackouts AHB-1 - Seymour Duncan/Basslines And the AHB's 2 Humbucker - Blackouts Metal AHB-2 - Seymour Duncan/Basslines Which one did you get, and how was the wiring? Was it complicated? I'm not to good at soldering pickups in, I'm still new to all of the electronic side of guitars. I don't trust any local guitar shops to install my pickups, and I need to learn to do this myself. So just curious as to how complicated they are. Does the neck pickup have a lot of gain, to where you can't really tell much of a difference between the Bridge and the neck pickup?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Mine are the AHB-1s, the AHB-2s weren't available when I bought my Blackouts. The wiring was really easy because my guitar was already wired for them they have a 3 pin connector on the bottom that is the same as the one EMG uses, so the swap took me all of ten minutes. I don't wire my own guitars, usually if I am changing pickups, I get a full setup at the same time so I just let this guy I've been going to for awhile now do the work. The neck pickup has a totally different sound than the bridge. I'd say it sounds like a mix between an EMG 60 and a 85 - for riffing, it does have less gain, and then for solos, it has a fantastic really warm and smooth sound and the notes just leap out of the amp. Sweeps sound gorgeous with the neck pup. |
