Sucks about your other guitar, but congrats on getting a better one I think I'd get the blackouts instead of EMGs because they are bassier. I don't really know how the metal would sound in alder, be aware it has more mids than any pickup your have ever used before by about 500% seriously, it's insane.

Oh and the blackout metal isn't available yet, they said it should be like april-may over on the seymour duncan forum if I remember. So you can order one it'll just be a while until you get it.

pure stupidity.
Yeah, when I first got it, I didn't know the difference between a guitar that has been set up, or one that hasn't. And I started to hate the guitar over time when I gradually got better cause it hasn't been set up since 2002 (I would think). I learned how to intonate the strings, set up the action, and what not. And since then I fell in love with it. The only thing I dislike about the guitar, is the tremelo (I like stop tails... A lot) and I just hate the passive HZ- 4's with a passion. They sound so horrible, and you can't even tell the difference between them when you move the pickup away from the strings, or higher up on them.

I guess they told me they could do it cause they thought they could take advantage of me, cause at the time, I was only 13 and only been playing for a year (This was 2 years ago). So I wasn't very guitar smart, and when they where done, it looked nice, and you couldn't tell that they glued the posts in. So when I got home, I was playing around with the guitar, and I went to go pull on the tremelo, and it just caved in. And when I brought the guitar back in, they already knew what was wrong with it without me having to tell them anything specific. I didn't even have to take the tremelo out to show them the posts how they just glued them in. But in the long run, I lost out on a $300 JS30 King V that I got for $100 on Ebay, and I got away with a much nicer Jackson DKMG Dinky (Not quite sure how much it's worth, I see very similar ones for $800 at Guitar Center). Overall, I'm satisfied.

Yeah, I hear they have a lot of Mid to them. I am wanting to get a nice thick edgy Death Metal tone, but be able to play stuff like Tool still. Overall I want a very versatile pickup, that can go from the heaviest of metal, to more progressive stuff like Tool. I play a Peavey 6505+ Half Stack, and it has a lot of low end cause of my 5150 Straight Cabinet, and the fact I have no casters on it, so it's right on the ground. So I'm not worried about a more bassier sound. I'll probably wait till the Metal ones come out, and see what they say about those. Before I get pickups, I'm getting a seven string guitar, so I can wait a little while for the Blackouts Metal. Thanks for your info.

The same thing happened to me, but I didn't get anything from those idiots. I should have burned their store down. Glad you made out so nicely! Looks like a really nice axe.

blackouts, they sound so defined even when palm muting compared to emgs.
of and nice score dude!

...Each guitarist has an evil fat 40 year old blueswankler trying to get out, If you give in to temptation you'll be sitting next to a fender playing john lee hooker while trying to keep your combover in place.

That sucks, I got really lucky. They ran out of business not to long ago, and now it's a DJ shop. I remember when I went in to complain about the posts, the guy ahead of me was complaining about his Violin that the tech they had scratched up and ruined pretty much (As to what I over heard). I guess they slowly ran out of business from ruining so many instruments.

Keep one thing in mind about Blackouts or EMGs. The EMG-Hz pickups in your guitar now are passive, so you'll have to replace most of the electronics to put in either active EMGs or Blackouts. Regular passive pickups could be installed with the existing setup, though I agree that the EMG Afterburner is crapola.

Yeah, I plan on taking all the electronics out and getting new electronics since the ones that are in now are 6 years old and there worn out pretty bad. The Afterburner just adds more noise and fuzz, I'd rather have 2 volumes and 1 tone then the current setup.
