honestly, i don't feel THAT much of a difference between painted necks and non-painted necks... sure they feel and play somewhat different, but i like 'em both for different things. Neither the one or the other makes me play better or faster. I think that getting used to the difference between a schecter neck, a regular ibanez neck, and a 27" ibby neck made me less susceptible to differences in neck construction.

The MTM2 plays and feel great. I don't think the painted neck is a minus at all.
