Personally, i wouldn't consider a pickguard to be an "upgrade", but in this situation, it might be the best option for covering up the empty pickup holes. (Why not just leave something in there?)
The arrangement of the volume and tone controls and pickup selector won't lend themselves well to most traditional pickguard configurations. You'll probably have to go with something custom-designed. Something along the lines of the Yamaha Pacifica pickguard, or the style offered on the Kramer Elliot Easton model might do the trick. (The EE's pickguard is a lot like the one on Jeff Beck's orange Jackson Soloist, which for some reason, i cannot find a photo of.) |

DON'T DO IT
![]() seriously, just grab some cheap singlecoils to fill the holes...or, for that matter, see if you can get them filled and touched up...I think Rick on here did that with a 7420 and it looks pretty metal (ITRN has an inherent dislike of pickguards)

Do a Google search for "Jackson Soloist Pickguard" and you will likely find exactly ZERO examples of it having been done before.
