Imitation Jem

Ive been on the look out for a Jem for ages, and recently came across this on theBay: WOODY ROCKMASTER BY WOODYCUSTOM fits a Jem or RG case on eBay, also Other Electric Guitars, Electric, Guitars, Musical Instruments (end time 06-May-08 08:43:51 BST)

Obviously a cheap copy, but if you didnt know, how would you actually be able to tell that it wasnt a real Jem?

Life is a waste of time, time is a waste of life.
Get wasted all the time and you'll have the time of your life!

Impressive level of detailing - pearloid back plates and all.

But it's still a fake.

There was indeed a headstock logo, as it comes with the proper Ibanez Jem transfer. Obviously isnt genuine, as it doesnt even claim to be, but its looks pretty damn close! I'll still be saving up for a real one though

*Just noticed the trem is different

The only things that give it away are the logo, the trem and the back of the neck. pretty impressive fake.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

I'm tempted to buy one of these fakes one day in hopes that its some rediculously awsome guitar. I remmember some guy was selling 7 string basses for a couple of hundred bucks, saw the exact same bass 6 months later same seller for about a grand.

That is scarily close to the real thing. I'm sure there's a lot of less than clued up players who wouldn't realise it's not the real deal. With a quick glance through the pictures it's easy to miss the "not a real Jem" disclaimer.

astrocreep is a jewel in the rough
Two particularly bad things from looking at the pics (apart from the "IT'S A FECKING FAKE!" issue):

1) The cover on the trem springs isn't recessed, so it'll get caught on belt buckle etc

2) Not all the pictures are of the same guitar. The one showing the whole back of the guitar doesn't have an input jack and cover as shown in the close up.

And yeah, I'll admit that for a laugh I'm tempted by the barebones lefty RG they have.
