EBMM JP6: yay or nay?

In short, I played one of these today, and it was awesome. The neck was silky smooth with a great shape. It sounded cool, especially with the piezo. It was dreamy. BUT there are a few things about it that make me wonder whether I should really save up and execute.

My main concerns:

Should I really be paying this much for something made of such a cheap, soft wood? Will it dent easier? In such a soft wood, will the trem studs move and cause it to go out of tune often?

Ultimately, are there other guitars that I should look into if I want specs similar to this guitar but sans basswood?

Answer the poll, and preferably give a reason/suggestions in the thread

Yay or nay?

My JP7 never ever went out of tune, it was always super solid. Other guitars you should look into? For that price... a Jackson Soloist. Or a Parker Fly.

To my knowledge, a Parker Fly is much more expensive, unless you go import.

Why did you sell your JP7?

Well, for a long time before I ordered my jp7 i considered getting the JP6 instead. I went around to a few different stores and tried a total of about 10 EBMM JP guitars. Three JP7s and the rest JP6s. I have to say, the JP6s overall did not impress me nearly as much as the JP7s did, hence why I got one. While the JP7 feels godlike and unique, the JP6 just felt kind of bland to me. For the price you pay (the cheapest one you can possibly get is still $1000) I really don't feel the JP6s are worth it. I think you could definitely do better.

Personally, if I'm paying upwards of $1000 for a guitar (to be realistic with EBMM, probably $1500+) it better be really amazing and I better feel like I have a real connection with it.

If piezos are a necessity, you can score a RG1820x I think it is or a PRS or something. Piezos are neat to have, but I wouldn't say they're deal breaking in the long run if you didn't have them. I'd recommend checking out ESP/LTD too. I honestly feel ESP/LTD makes the most solid, great guitars for the price nowadays. LTD Deluxe series is pure win.

I keep thinking that JPs are as expensive down there as they are up here.. up here, I could have gotten a Parker Fly Classic for how much my JP7 cost. You could look into the Parker Nitefly - bolt-on instead of one piece, but they play just as nice and sound better.
I sold it because of the basswood body and I thought I could find something better. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a 7 string that plays as nice, although I've owned many that have sounded way better.
For what its worth, I agree with WillingWell too. The JP7 is a phenomenal guitar. I've played a few JP6s and they are really "meh." The same neck profile that works so well on the 7 string is just way too thin for the 6 IMO and there are better 6s out there for the money.

If I wanted all the jp6 options, I MIGHT be able to get some bare bones custom.

They go from like $1500 bare to $2000 with matching headstock, jp inlays, and piezo. I'd want the headstock and the piezo, but I don't really care for the inlays. So I think what I'd want is like $1900.

Whatever. I have roughly $1900 of time to decide

I personally prefered the JP6 to the 7. Just wasnt a fan of the D-Sonic flipped towards the bridge and I kinda prefered the 6 neck profile.
