Help ID this guitar!

Here's the story, it's for someone I know, and here's what he has to say:

"I recently inherited my brother's old guitar (more like rescued it from storage) and have been working on getting it back into playing shape after about 12 years of disuse. Being new to guitars in general, I've been searching online to try and figure out the model.

On first glance, it looks like it's an Epiphone. The case is branded Epiphone and it also has it on the truss guard. Also, the metal plate connecting the neck to the body says Epiphone with different numbers and designations (don't remember off the top of my head what they are as I don't have it with me at the moment).

Here's where it gets confusing (at least for me

). The body style looks exactly like a Fender Strat. As a matter of fact, almost exactly like this picture"

Any ideas?

Whats so confusing about it being strat shaped?
TONS of brands have made guitars that are near exact ripoffs of the strat shape

That pic is a Fender Clapton strat. What you describe is something far, far different.

FWIW Epiphone DID in fact make some strat-shaped designs but to nail it down you really do need pictures of the actual guitar before you're going to get much help man.

Just out of curiousity did this guy not google image search this? I just did it and got a ton of pictures that could be the model but since I don't have anything to base it off of I'm not sure if it's a match:

If you can't get a pic of it tell him to google Epiphone Strat and he should be able to find the match pretty easily.

Take pics of the real one and post them, that would help alot. There is an Epi strat copy at the pawn shop here and the dude wants 250.00 bucks for it. Not sure if thats a good price for how beat up it is.

Did you ever use that DiMarzio FRED humbucker I sent you?

I was going to, until I was so generously offered to buy back my old custom 7621. I sold my last 6 string and jumped on that offer.

I'll probably use it on the next 6 I get
