But a lot of that has to do with the exchange rate and not that the pickup itself is overpriced.

Actually from what I have heard of them they are $200 cool. But hey Megadeth I finally found a PH-R for $80 so I don't need to spend the $200

Just to clear things up, they're not $200, whoever said that is a bit misinformed

Really though, if it improved your tone substantially wouldn't it be worth it? Pickups are every bit as important of a factor as amps or speakers, yet I wouldn't see people thinking paying an extra $100 to get a vastly superior amp would be silly right? There's certainly cheaper pickups that sound good, but there's premium to go to that next level you know?

That said it of course they're not cheap and if you're on a tight budget a DiMarzio or Seymour Duncan is certainly cool too

I totally agree, but a Bareknuckle Nailbomb for instance, like Nolly has in his PGM shipped to the US would run you $212, and that is with the Alnico V magnet. I am sure the ceramic magnet would add a bit to that. Also comparing spending an extra $100 on a pickup to spending $100 extra on an amp is not a good comparison. You can buy a Duncan or Dimarzio for about $75 shipped (and I'm high on that figure) compared to $212 for the BKP. That is nearly three times the price. That would be like saying the difference from a $1000 amp to a $3000 amp is not that big in comparison.

Dude I'm a BKP dealer and I keep trying to tell you, it's not $200. I've sold a bunch of BKPs to folks here, and no one has paid anything close to that. And no, switching magnets to ceramic is free.

I think the amp comparison I made was valid. Again, if you can invest an extra $100 to vastly improve your tone, regardless if its an amp, pickup, speaker, anything - that's a good deal to me. However yes, like I said above, Duncans are sweet too.

Yellowv, the prices on the BKP website include UK VAT wouldn't you have that deducted because you live in the states? That would take the cost down a wee bit, if I'm correct

If you order them from the site, they are about 180 per individual
100 pounds a piece, with VAT
so, if you subract, oh say, 16.x percent, cause we dont pay vat, they get a good bit cheaper on a pair.
Cheaper if you order through zimbloth too

I love Seymour Duncan, Gibson, and Caparison pickups. I have no urge to pay $200 for a pickup when there are a ton of great sounding pickups I can get used for $50.

have you tried any BKPs?

i have a set coming my way, just so i can find out for myself what all the hype's about, i'll reserve my judgment until then if it's worth the extra $. sure, Duncans and especially Gibson pickups sound amazing, but there's alway room for improvement with anything IMO, and if another pickup ends up sounding better to my ears, and get's me that much closer to the sound i'm after, i think it's worth the extra $.

and, as zimbloth already pointed out, they're NOT $200 each!
