One Dissapointed Return and a 3 Guitar Shootout Later...NGD!

I just today returned a hellraiser c7 that after 12hrs of play time I just had to return. I have discovered I really am not into the actives anymore and will be in the market for a new 7 string passive euipped guitar sometime in the future.

From this dissapointment, however, comes joy: another NGD for me!

I walked away from GC with a check in my hand(I paid cash...so they issued me a check) contemplating my next move. Prior to buying/returning my most recent purchase I was looking at 6ers for some drop C material I have written(can't play in B or A all the time...). I had it pretty much narrowed down to one of the new Ibanez artists guitars or a washburn idol pro. So, with that in mind I pointed myself in the direction of the nearest retailer who carries both brands- Sam Ash.

Once at Sam Ash I started looking for said ibanez models but to no avail. they were all out of stock. Dissapointed for yet a second time this day I decided to try out a couple of washburn idols anyways and since i was there thought "hey, might as well try some ESPs"

So started the guitar shootout through a peavey XXX. I acquired a Washburn Idol 66 Pro in silverburst, a LTD PB-500 in see through satin brown, and an LTD EC400VF in tobacco burst. Common denominator? SEYMOUR DUNCANs, BITCHES! So I started with the Custom/'59 equipped washburn. the guitar was a phenom: bold, agressive, just the right amount of gain and sustain. next I tried the JB/59 equipped eclipse. its the tone that tone is modeled after, man...it really is. Cant say anything that hasnt been said allready and this guitar became the standard to judge by. Last came the underdog, the AlNiCo Pro II equipped PB500. Now id seen this guitar in the ESP catalgue and dismissed it along time ago. today, though, i gave her a shot.

tell you what, there was a tone I had only heard of but never really experienced before out of those pickups. They were truly vintage and midoutput...but it was this character that made them shine through the amp. the note definition was there, the organic bloom and saturation was there, and to use the word with its original vigor AWESOME.

So...she had to come home with me! I am now a proud owner of one of the more underated guitars out there. this thang just roars and makes me want to play instead of sit her typing and bragging.

so, with that folks, I'm out.

alright...you got me...it didnt happen...

sorry guys, dont exactly have the means to get ya'll you guit'porn. It is a really cool guitar though. it was a toss up between all three. if i could buy all three i would...wait a minute...can I?

i was kinda turned off when i heard about the alnico IIs. they are resposnible for one of the most recognizeable tones out there though...so i thought Id give em a go....glad i did(refering to Slash, of course...Alnico IIs, les paul, marshall )

I really love the jb/59 combo and it allowed me to create my favorite tone: that of a mr. michael amott
