It would have looked a million x better without a pickguard, but yes that quilt is very nice.

From a design point the pickguard helps the transition flow easier from the top to the neck.

Meh, not necessarily. It's still a shame to cover up 50% of the body with a pickguard. The maple board/quilted maple top body thing is beautiful as is.

look at that picture and then look at the first one posted, don't you think that the transition between the body and the neck is smoother, just from a design view, kinda like how the colors blend easier on the eye.

I've always been a fan of pickguards on Strat-type guitars, and to me, that first guitar is sexy as hell.

It just looks wet, makes me want to put my tongue on it.
