12 String Question

Any 12 string player around here that tune down? I just ordered one and I tune down very low on acoustics as my songs are written mostly on seven string electrics. I'd like to tune it (low to high) B E A D F# B. Any recommendations on string gauge / brand?

Thanks!

This will probably be moved to the acoustic forum, but...

Assuming you tune a 6 string to low B, gauge do you usually use?

Oops, my bad. Feel free to move it where ever it should go mods.

See, that's the problem. I use an Ibanez AJ307 seven string acoustic. I looked around forever for a 14 string and the only one I found was over at Abyss guitars and the price was way over my budget. So I figured I'd try and get the job done with a standard 12.

Cool thanks. I sent them an email to see what gauges they would recommend.

I've never tuned a twelve string to standard before. I just use regular gauges to tune down a whole step. I used to own a Washburn 12-string baritone acoustic that I kept tuned to C with standard string gauges, and it work very well. They are not easy to find, but it could be a great way to tune down and get a nice clear tone in B.
