Now that I read about what you think, I had 300 dollars in my PayPal so for an 18 volt, EMG equipped LTD discontinued Ibanez 550...I think I paid alright (365)

But in all seriousness, if you have maple Ibanez gas...there's no other guitar you CAN get, aside of that MDX...wait to see if a 550 comes online for a good price and SNIPE IT!

Also, the only PGM model I liked was the blue 90th--YIKES!
that guitar sold for over 600. That is my point. That is nuts for a used 550. Granted that one should have sold for more because of the emg's but shit, I wouldn't want the emgs anyhow. But I do think I will wait and try and get a good price on a 550. I'll probably be waiting a long ass time since these things are being so overvalued though.

Well, if you really want to be technical...

EMG's + EMG SA
Tremol-No
19V Mod
Hardshell Case
Top 3 already installed

That amounts to at LEAST 300 dollars, no doubt. I think it was OK for a limited run hard-to-find model.

Not the point. I don't want to spend 600 plus on a 550 unless it's a reissue.

I think what XV is saying is that if you minus all the additional stuff installed, it would equate back down to 300 dollars, showing that at least one guy is selling an RG550 at a fair price. JKD is a ss.org member too I think.

Though tbh I wouldn't mind paying 500 for a mint/v. good condition RG.

Putting all that stuff in your guitar doesnt make it worth more. If you put 200$ pickups in a 300$ guitar, you still have a 300$ guitar. Its like when you put a new engine in a shitty old car that sells for a grand. its still a shitty car that sells for a grand with a new engine.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

the 18v mod is such an easy thing to do, that it doesnt even equate in that. You but a 2$ battery connector and solder two wires. Most of those older RG's already come with cases. The only thing you'd be including would be a tremolno. you can buy one for 60$. i'd rather pay 300$ for the RG and spend 60$ on the tremolno.

Yeah but I thought it was implicated that I'm a n00b

Also the EMG's do cost, and changing passives to actives requires all new hardware doesn't it?

I mean in the end I'm just justifying what I bought--I've been after one of these ever since I saw James from Arsis play one.

We now have the same guitar, not sure if he used the 81/85 combo but hey...
