Nice, a Gibson with a 24 fret fingerboard...

I've always considered buying an ESP Eclipse model at some point because I can't get the kind of appointments I need to play metal on a Gibson. But now...

Plus, Eclipse's don't have enough nice finishes, and I think they tend to look overdone in their general aesthetic.

But this Prophecy's finish is subtle, and gorgeous.

Gold Hardware FTW!

Theres quite a few new finishes on the eclipses dude. check em out again, although the abalone everywhere on the 1000s is gross.

Some serious nice guitars though

I've had Les Paul gas ever since I tried out the Stiletto and Express using one. Alas, it won't be a reality for a very, very long time.

Well, looking on the ESP website all I could dig up for Eclipse finishes are:

Transparent black cherry
Transparent black
Satin black
Satin white
Vintage white
Satin honeyburst
Amber-cherry sunburst
Amber sunburst
Transparent blue
Transparent green
Gloss black

It's not that they don't have alot of options, it's that I'm not really thrilled by any of them. You're right about the abalone - it's just overkill.

I think my main beef is that so many of these are so similar in colour that they barely count as a separate finish. I'd like to see some more natural stains in their line, and some more subtle colours. The black cherry colour is just so... red. Not enough black at all. I'm a big fan of blue guitars, but I'd prefer a PRS whale blue (darker, and less saturated) to the Windows XP blue ESP is toting.

Now the new Epiphone Prophecy, that has a finish to write home about.

and how does that burn sienna burst thing on the Eclipse II not make you orgasm?
The blue reeaally depends on the wood. the one at the shop right now is bright bright blue, brighter than the Winxp color. the last one was pretty dark, a bit darker than edroz' carvin

Azazel is on a distinguished road
Is it just me or is the cutaway different on the LP GX compared to the EX?

If the guitar plays well and sounds good I'd be willing to look past that, since the quality on Epiphones these days is better than Gibsons...

Now I'd disagree, Prophecy finish is nothing on what ESPs putting out. Sure, stock photos look nice, but in person an ESP or LTD finish blows away that Epi.
