I've got a Seagull S12 acoustic, and I've been itching to try stringing it up B to B, just for kicks and grins. That would make it BEADF#B, instead of the typical EADGBE. As anyone with a twelve knows, the high B and E strings are simply doubled, since there is no way to make them octave strings.

So, should I double up the F#, to keep it like a "traditional" 12-string, or make it an octave string, and just have the B doubled?

I've got the same guitar (beautiful ). Let me know if you pull this off, could be cool. I've tried different open tunings and things that go as low as C, but not B yet because the thing barely handles low-C on the strings I'm using (and I don't dare going to heavier strings for standard tuning, as that high-G octave string scares the shit out of me ).

you can't get a string thin enough to tune up to B and octave all of them? (that would be insane) I'd either do that or leave the F# doubled.

you could try tuning a to a and octave them all though...
id say try octaving up to F#, just for shits and giggles is a good idea. shit, if it doesnt work, just put a different string on
