Sounds cool. Not sure about hollowing out the body for the trem block though

I've met the inventor - Sheldon Lavineway - who did custom trem work for me years ago.

I've seen & tried this design and it's a fantastic one. Sheldon's been prototyping & refining for years.

It performs as advertised.

Yeah I don't think you've understood how the zero-position system works, and I don't blame you because the animation is missing the springs which would make the functionality much more obvious.

The zero-position function works the same way the Ibanez Zero-Point (Backstop) system does. So, although you can pull up & down, there is a strong neutral point (zero-position) so the bar is not fully free-floating like a Floyd or Kahler.

@Durero: the vids, using only distorted sounds, dosn't reveal any potential 'clicks' when the bar meets the zero-position resting point. Got a comment on that? A clean tone and slow use vid would be nice..

Their website mention potential wear on the Graphtec pins. Doesn't seems to be rollers; maybe not needed.
It looks like graphite pins but could be a the teflon-impregnated polymer Graphtec use for some of their other products.
I resently had very good discussions with them about such materials. If that's what's used. it's very hard'n'slippery. Comments?

So basically, does it just move the trem/string block as opposed to the whole bridge while having a tremsetter thing too?

Yeah, that's the basic idea. The backstop idea is pretty cool, its basically a block that allows the bridge to rest and stop on a solid point, but it can also move when it needs to, like when you dive with the bar.

This shows the basic idea behind the backstop.

I'm assuming he's going to want to mass produce these rack pies, and why not? I love racks, I love pies, so put them together and you have pie covered titties. - JJ

Interesting system... But to me it looks like a floyd without lock nuts and fine tuners... And I wonder if it makes a click noise when the tone bar comes in contact with the spring noise. Especially for heavy trem work.

I'd like to get my hands on one to dissect it so I can see how it works with my own eyes.

It almost looks like as if floyd rose and kahler had a baby.

In any language that you learn to speak -- love is twisted and defined as weak

TheMissing's GAScon status: GAScon 3... New geetar... But now I need to find a new pickup...

You can adjust how strong or weak the zero-positioning force is - the looser it is the closer you get to a full floating feel, the tighter it is the more abuse, retuning, string breakage it can handle without throwing the rest of the strings out of tune. Like I say it's very similar to the Ibanez Zero-Point system, they both use a layer of cushioning material so that when the tone block meets the back-stop bar there's little or no contact sound.

Having tried it I wouldn't expect to hear any clicks when the bar meets the zero-point unless you remove the cushioning material and set the trem action at maximum stiffness.

They sell these at thomann for 145 dollars.

There would be no problem fitting it to this guitar right ?
