Acoustic humidifing question

I just got my Alvarez () and i think its wonderful, but theres the question of a humidifier. I live in southwest missouri, its not horribly dry here buts its not moist either. I was looking at one of those soundhole humidifiers, but they have no gauge to tell if it needs to be humidified, and i wonder, what if I got one, and set it overnight once a week or so to keep it in top shape, would that hurt it, even with no way of knowing the humidity levels? I'd probably set it sunday and leave it until I get home that monday and leave it off for the rest of the week and repeat, I was wondering if theres a way to "over humidify" it.

Thanks in advance doods

I don't know if you can over humidify it? Not really sure. I only used mine when it was winter, the summer was always humid here. Anyways I love my Alvarez also!!! Sorry I was no help

Nah, thanks for the reply, doesn't look like I'll be getting many, lol

Winter is pretty dry here, so I'm going to go ahead and pick one up.

how do you know when it needs humidifying? and what is the effects on an overly dry acoustic? does the sound change?

You don't know until either the wood starts to crack and gets overly dry, from what I've heard.
